Jazzical Komitas - Passion of Fire

2022-2023

March 10, 2022

Jazzical Arts has released globally "Jazzical Komitas: Passion of Fire" with the goal of reaching an international audience and a Grammy nomination/win.   “Jazzical Komitas – Passion of Fire” is an experience like no other.  This acclaimed music, written by Komitas Vardapet, has been recreated in Joel Martin’s trademarked Jazzical® style for a new global audience.

Like fire, there are many layers to this music: red, hot, and painfully beautiful. Jazzical Komitas celebrates the heritage and art of the Armenian people - past, present and future - through music.

Featuring Armenian mezzo soprano Solange Merdinian, violinist Dr. Nune Melik, and Hamlet Exoyan, 13 year old Dhol percussionist from Yerevan on several tracks along with American symphony players and jazz musicians Pamela Sklar (flute), Jon Berger (drums) and the Andrew Smith String Orchestra, Jazzical Komitas will innovate and educate the world with the sublime beauty of Komitas' music and the ethnic folk songs that are the foundation of Armenian art and culture.

Jazzical was mixed by multiple Grammy Award winning engineer Dave Darlington in NYC, and mastered by legendary mastering engineer Scott Hull (Masterdisk NYC).

With an all-star cast playing on this recording, you need to hear the musical magic to believe!
